Howard and Janey
The Mid Valley Chevy Club would like to welcome our newest members, Howard and Janey Rees. Howard has been a long time Californian. The past 30 years were spent in Jackson, California before he and his wife, Janey, moved to Modesto in 2016. Howard has had a life long interest in cars and art, which led him to his working careers.
Howard began as a designer with Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan, where he worked on the Mustang line from 1964 to 1968. In 1968 he joined the Mattel Toy Corporation in Hawthorne, California, where he designed many or the original "Hot Wheels" cars. He left Mattel in 1974 to pursue a career as a full time fine artist. He specialized in Western art for over 40 years.
Howard now teaches art workshops around the west coast. All these years later, Mattel still sends him to "Hot Wheels" collector conventions where he talks shop and signs autographs for "car guys".
Currently, Howard is working on his project car which is a 1951 Chevy, and restoring it to replicate the first car he drove in high school. As Howard says, " I just love that split "6" sound"!!!
Welcome, Howard and Janey!!!!!
